The academic integrity feature does not analyze writing style or claim to detect “AI-generated writing” from prose statistics. It works by matching text a student copy-pasted from a monitored AI platform into a Google Doc during a declared assignment window — a paste-tracking / provenance signal for teacher review.
Google Docs only
The integrity signal applies to Google Docs. It does not extend to other LMS surfaces or claim coverage across Canvas, Classroom generally, or unrelated tools.

Flags are for teacher review. Educators get a signal they can use in an informed conversation with a student — not an automated enforcement verdict.
Handled with care
Student-related signals are limited to the assigned teacher for review. How long signals are kept and how they are handled follows your school’s policies and our Privacy Policy — this feature does not automate enforcement.
